John Harman

John Harman is not your typical property developer. After a successful career as a surgeon was halted by an accident to his hand, he chose to re-focus his attention toward building a new mixed-use development at 10 St Marks Road, Remuera. St Marks consists of a six floor medical and office commercial building, café and retail premises plus 58 luxury apartments. He did so with the same detail and excellence that marked his medical career, going on to win the NZ Property Council Award for Excellence in residential design in 2019 as well as receiving a commendation for its green building status.

As a long time apartment dwelling family he and wife Karen recognise the unique benefits of apartment living. Having enjoyed his first experience as a property investor and builder, John has now focussed his leading edge design team on Mark II. This quality urban design seeks to provide the highest standard of living wellness. What was once a favourite camp site and watering hole for the Tangata Whenua sitting beneath the gaze of Mt Hobson, this place has now been re-birthed as a happy place of work, play, peace and beauty.

Karen Spires began her real estate career in 1998 in Auckland. Since that time she has since gone on to sell over $500m worth of real estate. Having been involved in the success of St Marks, Karen is now excited about turning her attention to overseeing the sales of Mark II next door at 1 Macmurray Road, Remuera.

Buchan is a multi-award winning, global architectural and design practice with a legacy dating back to 1890.

All of their experience was brought to bear on the Mark ll project to deliver a development with an overall atmosphere of luxe elegance.

This is a new way of apartment living, a “hotel at home”, driven by a focus on well-being and community. One of the many features in this truly unique development is a wellness centre sitting in a lush terraced garden. Amelia Holmes Interiors

Interior designer Amelia Holmes brings a design aesthetic shaped by years of living in New York. This has given her unique insights into what transforms apartments into truly liveable homes. Her work on the interiors of St Marks saw luxury come to the fore, and at Mark ll she also focusses on seeing a refined luxurious aesthetic take centre stage, even in the most practical working details.

As one of New Zealand’s top and most prolific residential landscape designers Mark is especially talented in producing innovative, creative design solutions with a strong environmental The vision for Mark ll is to create a dramatically bold and vibrant landscape, like a tropical rainforest oasis, integrated with the architecture and the overarching principles of wellness and biophyllic design.
